5 Things you Need to consider while Visiting Victoria Island.

I happened to have the opportunity to visit Victoria Island in BC, Canada in September 2020. It was an amazing 5-day experience. I do not think that I can fully exhaust my experience on paper. However, to give you insight into what I saw, you can check out my article on visiting Victoria Island. I did have some shortfalls especially with the battery to my phone cameras that I’ve profusely emphasized in the below tips. So you can keep that in mind when you visit any exciting location and do want to vlog, or capture imagery. Here are the 5 hot tips you may want to know.

A change of clothing for the unpredictable weather.
The weather in Victoria changes so rapidly at any time. It may be sunny in the morning, but by the evening, it’s all raining and cold. If you are moving around using public transport, have a backpack with an umbrella, a light raincoat, and a warm sweater or jacket.

Carry a portable phone battery charger
If you plan to be out all day on tours, you want to have an easy way to replenish your phone battery life so that you can take those gorgeous photos, selfies and document some fascinating memories. Victoria has massive interesting places that you will want to capture, so be ready to capture it all.

Have a reliable camera
If you are thinking of taking many photos and videos, you may want to carry a reliable camera or video recorder that has long battery life and massive storage that you can use within 24hrs of your day. If you do not have this, you may run out of battery life of space on your phones. Virtually everything around might interest you.

Pre-google your visit sites before departure
Having an idea of where you will visit is important. This will save you valuable battery life trying to locate the site. I wasn’t sure how to get to my location, or at what stop to hop off the bus, so tracking my direction in real-time on google maps, greatly contributed to exhausting my phone battery. Download and save directions, or get a physical map. A map helps you to easily identify your position and the location of the area. It makes getting around effortless and can save you valuable phone

A private car vs. the public means.

One of the best way to enjoy and interact with others on a visit to a new location is by using the local transportation like buses, taxis, trams, trains, etc. I really had great conversations speaking to strangers at the bus stops, and even making acquaintances on the Orca trip, and taking a private taxi to the Burchard Gardens.

Those were some pros of public transportation. The cons were it would have saved me valuable time and money to get around to more places if I had used a personal or rented vehicle. If you are planning to visit an exciting location for a short period of time, the best might be to get a personal vehicle to help you get around faster.
